English

The English faculty is solely responsible for English lessons. However, English lessons can be split into two different categories, although no distinction is made in the timetable. In English literature lessons pupils read texts and learn the skills required to analyse these texts, in order to enable them to write better and to develop their critical skills. In english language lessons pupils develop their writing skills, whether they be writing to argue, persuade and instruct, or to describe a place, or a narrative piece. Chichester High School has an excellent languages staff and excellent equipment that have seen our boys gaining excellent GCSE exam results. English is a compulsory GCSE subject.
