Chichester High School Sporting Achievements

At Chichester High School for Boys we have always had a very good record in our sporting calender. For example our rugby team has always done well in the county championships. Last season our under 15's side won the county championship. We do all the sports you could think of at Chichester High School, like Rugby, Football, Hockey and many other sports.

Football

Our football teams are very good. Our under 15's side is very good because half a dozen of the players play for Sussex. One of them has even been selected for the England team in the south of England. Last season the football team played very well by not losing many of their matches and getting to the semi-final in the county cup and they only lost that game because most of the teams players were playing for Sussex. The under 16's side did not play very well last season because they were thinking about their GCSE's; they did play well in some games but they were also very poor in others. They did not win any competitions in the whole season. This is the under 15's team:

Rugby

All of our Rugby teams at the high school are very successful because our under 15's team won the the county championship. They were also undefeated in the whole season which is a very good achievement. Some of the players also play for Sussex. The Under 16's team also played well last season by winning most of their games but they did not win any compitions in the season. The results for the under 13's and under 14's played their games to the same high standard as the under 16 team because they won a vast amount of their games, but without winning any cups, such as the County Cup.

Hockey

The School hockey teams are very good. All our teams played well, with the Under 15's winning the County Cup, and some of them are now playing for Sussex - and one now plays for the south of England team! The other years were not as successful as the the under 15's but played very well winning a handful of games and getting quite far in the County Cup.

Cricket

The cricket teams have played a few games since the start of the season, but they have not played many games because of the poor weather we have had recently. The under 15's are very promising because they have not lost a game yet this season. The under 16's have not played any games this season because they have left the school after their GCSEs.

Tennis

The tennis teams do not play many matches, but there is a tennis club and they have matches between different years in the school. At the end of the year they also play a match against the teachers at the school.

Athletics

In the summer term there is an athletics club where you can learn how to improve your times in the hundred metres. If you are good enough you will get the chance to go to the Mountbatten Centre where you can see how good you really are by competing against other athletes from different schools. If you do well at Mountbatten you could even enter a national competition and, after that, who knows what can happen? You could be the next Linford Christie!
